Tears and Jeers

Stupid CBS. I just read tonight that Moonlight is canceled. No second season of Mick and Beth. No more Josef. Claudia Black's appearance this Friday, which I was really looking forward to with the relish and zealousness only a true fangirl can summon, will sadly be her one and only guest starring role on Moonlight. I will admit, the show wasn't perfect. The whole Coraline subplot came and went and lingered some more and then disappeared for good. Mick was a vampire, then human for five minutes, and then a vamp again. Beth had a boyfriend, lost a boyfriend, and gained a vampire boyfriend. Josef was cool, then cooler, then he got a weird looking hairdo, then was awesome again. (Seriously, Jason Dohring needs to call me. Call me Jason!) Overall though, it was a really entertaining Friday night show. Some of us don't do much on Friday night and like to have a popcorn show that we don't have to think about. Some of us like to ogle hot guys who can jump really high and sleep in freezers. Damnit. We're people too. We deserve a show that doesn't focus on fingerprints and miniscule fibers and stock, boring characters with no history and no color to them. It's not like the show was getting killed in the ratings either. It consistently beat all of the, admittedly minor, competition. I just don't get networks. They can cancel an entertaining show that makes you think and is snarky and cool and buzzworthy like Veronica Mars or Moonlight, yet they greenlight CSI: Wherever and Farmer Wants a Wife. Sadly, PMS-ing like I am right now, this news today made me want to cry and actually did get me choked up a little bit. I just get so attached to my TV shows. :sniff:

On to the Jeers...This! is American Idol! Oh show. Just when I thought you couldn't get more boring and irrevelant in my life, you go and pick these songs and match them up with these contestants. My sweet goofy smiley boy Jason is gone, and these three are left. Yippee. I guess David Cook would be my remaining favorite, but he has looked just dead and not really all there for the last few weeks. Maybe he's a vampire! That would actually make this show interesting to me again. So tonight we had 'lil Davie singing some really boring songs, and cracking me up by singing a Chris Brown song and actually saying "boo". heh. You just know he calls all his friends "boo" in real life. Hee. Syesha tries her best to subscribe to the Katherine McPhee newsletter that says "sluttier beats boring any day of the week....if you can't beat them, seduce them" and follows that advice to the letter with mixed results. Her Alicia Keys is fairly good and true to the original, while her "Fever" is very high school musical-esque. (Actual high school musical, not the movie High School Musical) Her last song, producers choice, was kind of a trainwreck, though not her fault, as the producers know who they want in the finale, and their names are both the same and start with the letter 'D'. Cook sings his first two songs alright. Very mellow, kinda boring. Then he gets the full-on pimp spot treatment. Complete with violins and stage production and fancy lights. "I don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith as a overwrought orchestral number. Hmm. It was pretty good, and his voice sounded better on this one than the other two. I just didn't get the feeling that any of them were in it to win it. No "eye of the tiger" to be seen here. Lots of mediocre meh performances. Oh, well. It's almost over.

One more thing...Parvati? Really? I know Amanda couldn't talk her way out of a speeding ticket, but damn. Parvati? Seriously? What the hell did she do besides flirt with James and make Ozzy into the biggest baby EVER? Ugh. That was one wack finale. Cirie was robbed, y'all. Robbed.

Okay, I lied. One more thing. Did you see Ace on Bones last night? DID YOU???!!!??? Suck it, AI. My boy's a tv star now! Yay!
